A funny story on the way to the bakery
A local chap told us about a foreign neighbour of his, who wanted to learn a
little bit of Greek. Many things in Crete are sold by the kilo and she wanted to
know how to order a loaf (a kilo) of bread at the local bakery. He told her that
she should say, “Ena kilo psomi”. Off she went and asked for “Ena kilo psoli”,
which translates as a kilo of penis.
